Merge PDFs on your iPhone or Android phone

It runs in the phone's browser, so there is no app to install.

Free: up to 5 files, 20MB total

Steps on a phone

  1. Open this page in your phone's browser.
  2. Tap Choose files. This opens your phone's own file picker; pick the PDFs you want.
  3. Check the list and reorder with the ↑ and ↓ buttons, which are easier than dragging on a touch screen. Tap ✕ to remove a file. More on changing the order.
  4. Tap Merge PDFs, then Download merged.pdf.

Before you start, make sure the PDFs are saved on the phone or somewhere your file picker can reach. When the merge is done, open merged.pdf and flip through it before you delete anything.

What was tested

We merged one Letter file and one A4 file in emulated phone browsers: an emulated iPhone 13 (WebKit) and an emulated Pixel 7 (Chromium). Both worked. These were emulations, not real phones, so your own phone and browser may behave differently.

Where the file goes

Where the download lands depends on your browser and its settings. Look in the browser's downloads list or menu. The files are not uploaded; the merge happens in the browser.

Big merges and phone memory

The merge runs on your phone, so a big one can run out of memory and fail. Keep to a few small files, close other tabs and apps, or merge in smaller batches. The free limit is 5 files and 20MB in total per merge; more on large merges.

What this does not do

It accepts PDFs only: photos and other files are skipped with a message, and it does not convert them. A password-protected PDF stops the merge. It orders whole files, not pages inside a file, and it does not compress.

Pro is Hexloom Pro, $29 a year or $4 a month, one subscription for every Hexloom tool. It removes the 5 file and 20MB limits. There is no account: Pro unlocks the browser you subscribe in, and the confirmation page has a link to restore it elsewhere.
