Merging large PDF files

The free version handles up to 5 files and 20MB in total per merge. Here is what happens beyond that.

Free: up to 5 files, 20MB total

The free limit

Each merge can include up to 5 files and 20MB in total. If you add more, the tool tells you the limit and offers Pro instead of merging. You can run as many merges as you like.

If you have more than 5 files

Merge them in batches: merge the first five, then merge that result with the next batch. Each pass is a normal free merge, as long as the total stays under 20MB.

If the total is over 20MB

Batching does not help here, because the limit is on the total size of one merge. A single file over 20MB, or a set that adds up to more, needs Pro.

Your own device does the work

The merge runs on your computer, so a very large merge can be slow, or fail, on a device with little memory. Pro removes our limits; it cannot add memory to your device. Closing other tabs before a big merge helps.

Pro

Pro is Hexloom Pro, $29 a year or $4 a month. It removes the 5-file and 20MB limits and unlocks the browser where you subscribe; there is no account.
