Appendices usually follow the main report. Export each appendix (diagrams, tables, data, references) as its own PDF and name them in order:
- report-main.pdf
- appendix-a.pdf
- appendix-b.pdf
- appendix-c.pdf
Alphabetic or numeric order keeps them easy to find and makes them easy to check in the list.
Merge in order: main report first
Press Choose files and select the main report and the appendices. Read the list; if the order is wrong, use the ↑ and ↓ buttons or drag by the ☰ handle to reorder before you merge.
Page count and numbering
Count pages in each file, then add them together. A 20-page main report plus a 5-page appendix A and a 3-page appendix B total 28 pages (20 + 5 + 3). The merge does not renumber pages, so if appendix A starts its own numbering at "page 1", it stays "page 1" in the merged result even though it is physically page 21. Check what the reader or recipient expects.
Check the total size
The free merge allows 5 files and 20MB in total per merge. Add up the file sizes beforehand. A 10MB main report plus 5MB of appendices total 15MB, which fits. Scanned documents can be much larger. If the total is over 20MB, batching does not help on the free version, because the last merge still takes all the parts (more on large files).
Batching multiple appendices
The free merge takes up to 5 files, so a main report plus 5 appendices (6 files) needs two merges. Merge the report with appendices A to D (5 files) into report-batch-1.pdf, then merge report-batch-1.pdf with appendix E (2 files). The report stays first in every merge, so the order stays right. More on batch plans.
What this does not do
It does not build a table of contents, update page references or renumber pages. It does not compress files, so the merged size is about the sum of the parts. Bookmarks, form fields or the document title may not carry over. Which appendices and what size the recipient accepts is for them to specify: check what the person or system asking for the file needs.
